Shiseido’s upgraded global sun care range protects against UV rays while strengthening and repairing the skin’s surface

Shiseido has taken its sun protection game to the next level.

The brand has launched an upgraded sun care range, powered by the brand’s newly developed SynchroShieldRepair Technology. This provides not only high protection against harmful UV rays, but also works to strengthen and repair the skin’s surface.

Unlike traditional sunscreens, which form a simple barrier against UV rays, SynchroShieldRepair actively adapts to the skin’s needs throughout the day. This ensures that protection stays consistent, providing an uninterrupted layer of defence against the sun.

As you go about your day, whether sweating under the midday sun or swimming in the ocean, the technology ensures that the sunscreen’s coverage remains even and effective. If its surface gets disrupted, such as with nicks or scrapes, SynchroShieldRepair kicks in to re-smooth the surface.

What makes this technology even more impressive is how it works synergistically with the skin’s natural needs.

The inclusion of a new complex, made of five different algae extracts and glycerin, ensures that skin stays hydrated and glowing, even on the hottest, most humid days. Algae, known for its natural moisturising properties, helps to keep skin nourished, while glycerin helps to lock in moisture and prevent the skin from drying out.

Further boosting the sunscreen’s longevity are Shiseido’s WetForce and HeatForce technologies, which help improve its resistance against water and heat, respectively.

The new range is designed for everyone (especially in sunny Singapore), whether you’re an outdoorsy runner, a beach bum or just someone who needs reliable sun protection when you’re walking to your favourite hawker centre. Glycyrrhizic acid derivatives work to soothe irritation, ensuring that the sunscreen is gentle on all skin types, even those that tend to be more sensitive or prone to breakouts.

All four products in the range have a smooth, lightweight texture that glides effortlessly onto the skin, blending in seamlessly without any mess.

Each product is targeted at different needs and preferences: The Perfect Sun Protector Lotion ($70 for 50ml) offers broad-spectrum SPF 50+ protection, ideal for both the face and body.

There’s also a version tailored for sensitive skin, as well as the Perfect Sun Protector Hydro Gel Cream; both are also priced at $70 for 50ml.

The latter is our favourite for its lightweight formula and smooth application, making it a great candidate for daily wear. We particularly enjoy how it absorbs swiftly into the skin, leaving no greasy residue or white cast behind. The Hydro Gel Cream also serves as an excellent base for makeup, without causing pilling or disrupting other products.

For those who prefer a more portable option, the Perfect Sun Protector Clear Stick ($45) is a no-mess solution that provides the same level of protection in a handy, twist-up format, making it perfect for onthe-go touchups on makeup-free days.
