Tiger Brokers is doubling down on options. With growth surging in US options trading on its platform in 2Q2025, the brokerage is now bringing global expertise to Singapore retail investors through a landmark event: The Right Call, The Smart Put – Insights into Options.
The half-day options seminar for Singapore’s retail investors will be held on Oct 18, 2025 at Guoco Midtown, The Work Boulevard. The event is presented in collaboration with the Cboe Global Markets (Cboe) and is positioned as a practical, tools-on session for active traders and newcomers who want to understand how options fit into portfolio construction, risk control and opportunities for income generation.
Ian Leong, CEO of Tiger Broker Singapore says interest has been building across 2025 as investors seek flexible ways to generate returns and shape risk. “We continue to see strong, broad-based demand for options among Singapore investors, especially in US-listed contracts,” Leong says. “Options are becoming mainstream tools for hedging, yield and tactical exposure. This seminar focuses on turning that interest into practical, disciplined execution.”
The collaboration brings exchange-side perspective together with hands-on retail education. “Cboe’s presence anchors the institutional side of the conversation, from liquidity and market structure to price discovery,” Leong says. “Paired with live walkthroughs on the Tiger platform, attendees will leave with a checklist they can apply the next trading day.”
Sharon Ang, Head of APAC Derivatives Sales at Cboe Global Markets says: “We’re excited to collaborate with Tiger Brokers to support the growing appetite for options among Singapore investors.”
Options trading activity has risen alongside choppier markets, earnings dispersion and event-driven volatility. Investors are looking for instruments that allow pre-defined risk and asymmetric pay-offs. Tiger Brokers note that internal platform data points to robust growth in US options participation during 2Q2025 with sustained engagement through the third quarter. “The message from clients is consistent. They want to manage downside without fully exiting positions, earn income on core holdings and express views around catalysts like results, macro prints and policy moves,” Leong says.
The seminar will explain these approaches in plain language and show how to operationalise them. “We will unpack how option prices reflect implied volatility, how probability and expected range help determine strike selection, and how the Greeks translate to day-to-day risk,” Leong says, adding that the event will also teach attendees how to set exit criteria and run post-trade reviews to drive consistency.
“The objective is repeatable process, not one-off trades,” says Leong.
“As options become more mainstream, our focus is on equipping investors with practical tools and educational insights they need to trade with confidence. This collaboration brings together Tiger’s innovative platform and our deep expertise in derivatives to help clients navigate markets with precision and purpose.” Ang remarks.
Call it a plan
The programme is designed to blend expert talks with platform demonstrations and Q&A. James Ooi, chief market strategist at Tiger Brokers (Singapore), will moderate discussions and anchor the live platform segments. The agenda covers fundamentals such as contract specifications, expiries and assignment, and builds toward strategy design, volatility awareness and trade management. Attendees will see how to screen underlyings, map event calendars, assess skew and term structure, and simulate trades with scenario analysis.
Institutional insights will be provided by Cboe on the evolution of liquidity and microstructure in US options. This includes how quoting works, what drives spreads and depth around rebalance and expiry cycles, and how market makers manage risk through volatility regimes.
“Understanding what sits behind the top of book helps retail traders calibrate expectations. It informs everything from strike selection to patience on fills,” says Leong.
Besides the talks, there will be time for networking, allowing attendees to connect with trainers and peers who trade similar instruments. Leong adds: “Community matters. It keeps traders learning and accountable. We are building an environment where people can exchange process, not tips.”
The event spotlights Tiger Brokers’ options trading tools and Cboe’s market insights on options, liquidity, and risk management.
“This is the kind of colour that rarely makes it into retail webinars,” Leong says. “Hearing it directly from an exchange representative helps traders interpret what they are seeing on screen.”
Ang explains, "Retail investors are increasingly looking for more than just access to financial products—they want data, education, and a community to engage with other traders. We hope the opportunity for Tiger Brokers’ customers to hear directly from market experts and connect with peers who trade options will help them translate market colour into actionable insights, and foster a disciplined approach to options trading."
The session is suitable for a range of experience levels, from newcomers to experienced traders.
