SBS Transit has reported a profit after tax of $14.45 million for the 3QFY2025 ended Sept 30, down 20.6% y-o-y. For the 9MFY2025, profit after tax declined 12.3% y-o-y to $51.91 million.
For the 3QFY2025, revenue declined 2.4% y-o-y to $386.45 million, and for 9MFY2025, revenue declined 3.8% y-o-y to $1,132.3 million.
This lower revenue for the third quarter of the year was mainly due to lower service fee for bus resulting from loss of Jurong West package from September 2024 coupled with lower fuel indexation, partially offset by higher rail fare revenue. This is also the same reason revenue declined for the 9MFY2025.
The group also experienced an increase in other commercial services due mainly to higher advertising revenue.
Meanwhile, operating costs declined mainly to lower fuel and electricity costs resulting from lower diesel and electricity prices, partially offset by higher staff costs.
SBS Transit’s daily ridership for the Northeast Line (NEL) for 3QFY2025 came in 3.8% y-o-y higher at 625,000, and 5.9% q-o-q higher.
For the Downtown Line (DTL) ridership, average daily ridership grew 1.4% y-o-y to 490,000 in 3QFY2025, and 6.2% q-o-q.
SBS Transit did not retain the PT220 Tampines bus package in the recent tender and this package will be transferred out from July 5, 2026.
Shares in SBS Transit closed flat at $3.25 on Nov 11.
