Great Eastern Holdings’s FY2025 profit attributable to shareholders rose by 21% y-o-y to $1,207.1 million. Net profit in 4Q2025 rose by 79% y-o-y underpinned by a favourable investment performance and earnings from the existing in-force portfolio.
However, total weighted new sales or TWNS declined 15% y-o-y, in line with a shift away from short-term single-premium products toward a more diversified range of longer-term product offerings.
TWNS for 4Q2025 grew by 5% y-o-y. The Group’s new business embedded value or NBEV recorded a growth of 25% and 19% in both 4Q2025 and FY2025 respectively, driven mainly by strong sales performance in Singapore, as a result of new product innovations introduced during the year and channel growth from financial advisors and bancassurance.
In Singapore, the Group made a shift toward a more diversified, higher-value and sustainable business model, reshaping its product mix, broadening its suite of solutions and deepening customer engagement. The launch of 18 new products, including several market-first offerings, supported this transition, strengthening new business value and enhancing the quality and resilience of the overall portfolio.
In Malaysia, the Group delivered a resilient performance despite challenging market conditions amid rising medical costs and related new market requirements introduced beginning 2025.
GEH’s Embedded Value grew by 11.5% in FY2025 while its comprehensive equity rose by 6.7% driven mainly by growth in underlying business as well as strong investment profits supported by favourable market conditions. This was partly offset by a decrease in net contract service margin (CSM) driven mainly by increased uncertainties from both financial and non-financial risks, contributed from fluctuations in interest rates, especially in Singapore, and development of medical claims in Malaysia respectively.
